James Arthur "Big Chief" Glenn

James Arthur "Big Chief" Glenn, 93, of 456 South Converse Street, Spartanburg, SC passed away January 7, 2020 at his residence.  A native of Spartanburg County, SC, he was the son of the late Willie Glenn, Sr. and Regina Clark Glenn.  He was a member of Bunton CME Church where he sang with the Male Choir.  He was retired from the YMCA of Spartanburg.  He was a 1945 graduate of Carver high School.  He served in the US Army and was a Mason and a Shriner.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, William Glenn, Sr., Edward C. Glenn, and Robert F. Glenn.  He is survived by his children and grandchildren; his companion, Leola "Mickey" Thompson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  Funeral services will be held 2:00 Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Bunton CME Church with burial in Lincoln Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the home and at 328 Marion Avenue, Spartanburg, SC.  Arrangements are with Community Mortuary, 102 Marion Avenue, Spartanburg, SC.
