Channing Gist

Channing S. Gist, 26, of 221 Haskell Street, Union, SC entered eternal rest Wednesday morning, September 4, 2019 in the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. A native of Union, SC, he was the son of Minister Jannie S. Gist of the home and Oscar R, Gist Jr. of Gaffney, SC.  Channing was a member of Wyatt's Chapel Baptist Church.  He was a 2011 graduate of Union Christian Day School, received his associates degree from USC-Union, and received his bachelors degree from USC-Columbia.  He was a former employee of Walmart.  He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James Gossett and Walter Rice.In addition to his parents, those who remain to cherish his memory include, one brother Herman Lewis Sartor of Union, SC; two sisters, Keisha Sartor and Quatinna Tucker both of Union, SC; maternal grandmother, Mary R. Reed of Washington, DC; paternal grandparents, Oscar R. Gist, Sr. and Dorothy Gist of Union, SC; four nephews; one niece; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Channing was the god son of Calvin and Hope Ray, Ernestine Greene and the late Eric Robinson, Sr.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Community Mortuary, 361 Meansville Road, Union, SC.
